1988年に初めてNYを訪れた際ハウス・ミュージックにノックアウトされ、以来一貫して「ハウスの本質と多様性」を追求すべくDJ,制作活動を行ってきた。その作品は常に様々な音楽のエッセンスを含み、容易にはカテゴライズし辛いものであったが、それが故に持つオリジナリティは国内よりむしろ海外Jazzシーンで高く評価される結果となり、’99年以降リリースされた作品は全てワールドワイドリリースを果たしている。近年はよりディープでコアな作品を発信すべく、別名儀「Foog」としても活動。多数の楽曲をbeatportなどのデジタル・リリース中心に発表している。
近年のDJスタイルは、ハウスにとどまらずジャズ、アンビエントからテクノに至るまで、多様かつ横断的なプレイとなっている。
When he first visited New York in 1988, Yukihiro Fukutomi was deeply moved by house music. Since then, he has dedicated himself to exploring the essence and diversity of house through his DJing and production work. His music consistently incorporates elements from a variety of genres, making it difficult to categorize but rich in originality. This unique approach earned him high acclaim particularly within the international jazz scene, with all of his releases since 1999 distributed worldwide.
In recent years, Fukutomi has also produced deeper and more core works under the alias Foog, releasing numerous tracks primarily through digital platforms such as Beatport. His current DJ style is diverse and cross-genre, spanning not only house but also jazz, ambient, and techno.
